Dear Mr. Steadman:

Report on the Production in Canada of Certain
Fibres,
|
This is further to your letter dated September 22, 2005, requesting further information with respect to the Report on the Production of Certain Fibres, Yarns and Apparel Fabrics issued by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal on June 30, 2005.
The Tribunal has examined your request and notes that domestic textile manufacturers reported low levels of domestic production compared to imports with respect to the following tariff items: 5210.41.00, 5407.52.90, 5407.53.00, 5407.54.00, 5407.61.99, 5515.13.90, 5516.23.90, 5602.10.90, 5603.92.90 and 5903.90.29. As you know, tariff protection was maintained for tariff item 5111.30.18 because production was reported for other tariff items with the same physical characteristics. Low levels of production compared to imports were reported for these tariff items (5111.30.11, 5111.30.20 and 5111.30.91). Imminent production was reported under tariff item No. 5112.19.91.
If you have any questions concerning the above, please do not hesitate to contact Paul Berlinguette at 993-7161.
Yours sincerely,
Hélène Nadeau
Secretary
